Summary0002431: Sound without skips when mixer window is showed
DescriptionWhen i use Ardour I hear frequently skip on the sounds tracks, and I use a real time kernel and jack latency is 2048. But if the mixer window is showed, the sounds is much more fluids, with rare skips. Very strange!
Additional InformationI use Kubuntu 8.04, Ardour 2.3, on a notebook HP Pavilion dv 5000, with AMD Sempron processor 3300+, 1 GB Ram, kernel Ubuntu 2.6.24-19 rt

This is not an Ardour problem, its a system configuration problem.

As Paul noted, this has to do with the settings on your computer outside of Ardour, most notably is probably how jack is configured and its buffer size. These two sites should give you a good starting point in how to configure your system for audio and if needed low latency on Linux.
