| Summary | 0002138: Error executing ardour | ||||
| Description | I installed JackOSX and Ardour, the last version published in the web page. I have X11SDK and X11User installed too. The problem is that ardour gets up one minute before to be lauched. I don't know if this is normal. I also get a lot of logs in system.log like this : Mar 26 01:26:38 coopers-ibook-g4 kernel[0]: HFS: /rsrc paths are deprecated (Andale Mono/rsrc) Any idea ? Thanks a lot | ||||
| Additional Information | Mac OS X version 10.4.11 Processor 1.2GHz PowerPC G4 Memory 768MB DDR SDRAM | ||||

Lets try to get clear a few basic things. the SAE/PPC version does not require X11, and it does not require JackOSX. Neither of these are used because (a) the SAE version is a "native" version and (b) the SAE version includes it own version of JACK. In addition, the documentation for all "new" OS X native users can be found at http://ardour.org/first_time_osx_native and it says: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Slow Startup The very first time you run Ardour, it will take roughly 2 to 3 times as long to get started on a session as it will subsequently. This is because the user interface code has to build a catalog of the system fonts, something which only happens once. Ardour will post a warning message about this, but we want to warn you ahead of time about this alarming delay. In general application startup on OS X seems startlingly slow compared to Linux. Ardour is no exception to this. We continue to work on ways to reduce its launch time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would recommend reading that document. The message about /rsrc paths is not something directly related to Ardour's code, but reflects something about your existing system font setup. |
