DescriptionI copied the generic midi protocol library from the .app contents to .ardour2/surfaces folder and got this error:

You cannot move libraries out of a .app and expect them to work.

If there are issues with using the control protocols as they are installed in the .app, we need to solve them.

I moved the protocol out of the .app because it wouldn't load from inside the .app. It doesn't throw any error, it just doesn't load them.
I saw that it was looking for them in .ardour2/surfaces folder in the console and thought I'd give it a try.
The 2.1 x11 version loads the protocols just fine.

I have all the apple developer tools installed, so if you want me to run some kind of debug tool to get more info just let me know how and what.

Ignoring the errors from moving files out of the bundle, I am unable to reproduce this with any recent version of Ardour native. Is this still an issue for the OP with 2.7? If so please post up to confirm, otherwise I will be setting the status of this issue to resolved in about a week. Thank You.
