| Description | Making cd toc's in ardour is very painful and unnecessarily so. if you were able to simply add a track marker on the timeline, forget the end marker per track, that would be fantastic. no more crappy locations editor to fight with. ardour makes a really simple job a complete trial. one other point is the export dialogue should remember the last choice for output config per session & not select the master out bus by default on re-export. huge timewaster when the output file is distorted 'cause of multiple outputs. g. | ||||

that would be true if your CD tracks are all directly contiguous in the session. but it would be deeply problematic otherwise. so how to offer both styles? |

can't see the point in having to place an end flag for every track.it's a redundant time wasting action imho and a total pita.it's way easy to make a complete mess of overlapping end/start points which creates a dead toc. too much work for what should be simple and quick.you can't end one track past the begging of another anyway so why have this feature? have you ever made a cd with ardour containing 40 + tracks? oooohhhh... beam me up scotty. :) g. |

thinking about it, i'd like to see a dedicated "cd" range marker at the top of the track pane; so you could have a virtual cd authoring mode.this could be de-activated by default, but would be a really good feature.there's always the locations editor for advanced editing if you wish g. |

songshop having an ending marker for CD tracks is incredibly useful because of various reasons. One, if you are going by CD Redbook you need to have 2 second pregap between each track and before the first track. So explaining to people why they lost 2 seconds at the end of their track will confuse many people if we force an export to redbook standards. Also many people choose to 'break' this rule for various reasons. For instance i had a CD I worked on recently that I had some tracks run seemlessly into the others, or had applause between tracks that would lead into the next track, etc. None of this would have been possible and still allow people to skip to where the next track actually begins and mantain the proper end of the previous track, unless i could define both starting and ending points. |

looks like the OP did not take into account some more advanced usecases of cd tocs, notably pre-gaps etc, for which the current model works well. closing because of no feedback. |
