| Description | I really like Toms Audio Plugins, especially the TAP equalizer. But (as reported on toms website), the plugin crashes/misbehaves when the incoming signal is empty. As a consequence Ardour suffers from it, especially when a track is playing an empty track and when using the pitch-wheel. | ||||

I don't know if this can be classed as an ardour bug. On the one hand I agree that programs should try to be resilient against in external software eg. plugins, but on the other I realise that LADSPA doesn't require host programs to do any kind of denormal protection. I totally agree that TAP plugins and many others *do* have denormal issues, at least with certain CPUs or compilers. In many cases the developers of the plugins don't have the affected CPUs. These problems have existed for years and I hope I can find time to find and fix the affected plugins once and for all, since I can easily reproduce the problems on my machine and think I should be capable of learning LADSPA. In the meantime I'd recommend the 'single band parametric' plugin instead of TAP's equalisers. You'll need more of them, but they do the job. |

turn on DC Bias denormal compensation under the Options menu. this will fix the issue in most cases. |
