Summary0001784: Cleanup behaviour
DescriptionWhen I use "Cleanup->Cleanup unused sources" I'm being told that I should use "Cleanup->Flush Wastebasket" to permanently delete the files but then this menu entry becomes grayed! I have to restart ardour to be able to use this entry.

Expected behaviour : I must be able to to that right after using cleanup

sorry, not going to happen. we want to force you to restart ardour after the files have been moved to the wastebasket in order to ensure that the session functions as expected. if we let you empty the wastebasket while still in the session, and there are problems, there is absolutely no way to recover the session.

Thanks for your quick reply and sorry to reopen this. I understand your position and I'm standing next to you but then you should make the user aware that he needs to restart ardour in order to perform that task. It could be simply added as a comment to the dialog that appears after cleanup.

Just thought it could also stand next to the "Flush Wastebasket" menu entry with something like : [grayed] "Flush Wastebasket (available upon restart)" or something like that because we all tend to ignore dialogs.

I can agree that simply changing the wording of the dialog to make it explicit that you can flush the wastebasket on restart is a good idea. I will see abotu submitting a basic patch for this when I get a moment.
