Summary0001647: Crash on Multiple Splits
DescriptionIt is hard for me to place an exact cause of why this is happening, but I will give as much info as I can, and can build a debug version in a couple of weeks for a BT if it is needed, at the moment I have to finish this project up and have to much to do amidst it and moving, to be able to spend much time on it.

Ardour2VST. No VSTs loaded at the moment.
Working in 96k. RME HDSP 9632. x86 Linux.

25 Mono Tracks, 3 Stereo Busses currently. One mono track is empty.

The project comes from a 24 track recording of a show onto an Alesis ADAT HD24 machine in 48K. After importing the tracks into the project, and putting them each on a mono track, aligning as needed as some for whatever reason got out of alignment, I think this may be due to how I got them off the ADAT drive(HD24tools and an external USB enclosure) not Ardour, but I am not sure as I did not test it.

Created the 96K project as I want things like reverb etc to run at 96K. Have gone through and put in a basic mix so at least I can listen to things. I am currently working on splitting up the regions for the different songs so I can get rid of large chunks of various regions as there are 13 vocalists(Live Musical Theater Recording) and not all are in every song.

My procedure as it stands at the moment is...

I have created one range per song. In the Locations window I go to the start of each range, do ALT+Enter to get the edit cursor to the playback cursor. CTRL+A to select all visible regions. Then I right click and go through the context menu for split. This splits every region on the edit cursor, and thus on the song like I want. I have in doing this repeatedly crashed Ardour, though I can find nothing else causing this then what I am doing above. Just every 5th edit or so in this fashion, it crashes.

It is nothing to big, I have started saving often, it just gets in the way of working, and I was lucky to have saved not long before I started this splitting so as not to lose much time. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to troubleshoot or if you need me to go ahead and build a debug build for a BT. Thanks.

a debug build and backtrace will be essential, i think.

Have not been able to reproduce in a test session in 2.0.3, later on this summer I will be digging out the same session I was casuing it with before and will check then, but until then it might just be something wonky in my setup I suppose.

Correction, have not been able to reproduce in the svn-2.0-ongoing branch, have not tried 2.0.3 but I imagine it will be similar, will still check again with the original session to see if I can reproduce when I get back to it.

believed fixed by various changes in 2.0.1 and 2.0.2
