This raises something that I've been thinking about for a while. It seems to me that some settings are relevant to the session and some are only set as a 'system' setting (i.e. not affected by the session). Separating settings into 'session' and 'system' in some way would really help. Maybe two different menu options. Or maybe the options window for system settings and a new window for session settings. |

How about remove the whole options menu and make a preferences window for "session" and one for system, accessed from the Edit menu. Then rename Session menu to File, to be more familiar. There is nothing lost naming the menu File and most other applications does this, no matter the context. Also, the Edit menu and View menu should come before the Transport menu. |

you crazy people! ardour 0.99 has everything in the options editor. everybody complained they could never find anything. we went the OS X route, and now you're complaining that its too hard to use the menu. chris, we used to do more separation between the session/system settings, and people seemed confused by it, so we changed it and the way settings are saved. Session -> File ... not happening. There are lots of other apps that do not use File, and Ardour is proud to be among them. An Ardour session is not a file, and there is little to be gained by suggesting that it is. |
