most of ardour's CPU usage unless loaded with plugins is not JACK/DSP related. i don't see what is odd about this. |

I'm not sure I understand you. On my 2GHz CPU, ardour is using 30% of it, when it is disconnected from JACK. The only plugin loaded is "Simple Amplifier", as well. Shouldn't ardour be all dead, when disconnected from JACK?. |

Is this still an issue? For me, Ardour does not use much CPU (as reported by top) either connected to or disconnected from JACK. |

There was a specific fix for this problem within the last 2 weeks or so, and it will be in 2.8. I've confirmed that the problem existed, and my patch fixed it. |
