i'm pretty sure that's not the case. there are 80 bits per SMPTE frame in all the reference materials i've seen.

Yes, 80 bits in an LTC frame, but I've always thought there are 100 subframes in a frame.

This taken from sync&surround_concepts_29744.pdf page 3. by Digidesign

"Time code describes locations in terms of hours, minutes, seconds, frames, and subframes (1/100th of a frame)."

Maybe both 80 and 100 are correct ! I need to dig deeper I think.

the 80 bit definition is amazingly weak. just as i've come to expect from anything related to the video world :)

nick: looks like we should aim for 100 subframes per frame. otoh, the exact meaning of this in the real world seems to be ill-defined.
