Summary | 0000125: Tracks are not properly aligned with each other
Description | It appears that tracks can have latency between each other. Because of the other problem or feature or RTFM error - I haven't figured out how to record stereo tracks with my Hoontech DSP-2000 card (8xin & 8xout) that restricts me to select only mono tracks for recording and that results that I need to record 2 mono tracks at one time and that results a lots of tracks and other problems of course, I found a problem that when I record a stereo track (in other words two mono tracks at once), at some point when there are many tracks, they end up beling sync with each other. The difference between left and right channel seems to be able to grow as bad as 100-500 ms that sounds like a delay effect even if there is no effects applied to any of the tracks. With my current project, it always happens with my latest tracks. I haven't found way to overcome it. The last tracks seem to always get improperly synced. I categorized this to major since if this occurs, I can't really use Ardour in music making since the syncing of tracks is very important in my use.
Additional Information | The machine is Athlon 1700XP with NForce1 motherboard, 512 MB RAM, Redhat 9.0 with self installed ALSA, jack etc. The audio interface is Hoontech DSP-2000 C-port. I don't have any file by now for upload because my project is quite large.

this is a known bug that has been much discussed recently. we have a fix already designed. in essence, this is a duplicate of bug bug:98. i can't predict when the fix will be implemented, but it will be before the next beta release for sure. edited on: 11-12-03 09:54 |

fixed in paul's code base, november 24th 2003. new options for aligning to either existing material or capture time. |

i don't know if this is related to the missing output latency correction for newly recorded material that is in cvs now. are you recording one track after another using the previously recorded tracks as reference? or is this realy an issue of two track being out of syn though they have been recorded at the same time as tow partes of a stereo pair? |
