Summary0001171: Can't open Ardour
DescriptionI recentely downloaded Ardour-0-2.99.dmg for mac OSX. When I open the file, it opens for about a second and stops. I have a Mac OS X v 10.4.3, 1.67 GHz processor (G4 powerbook) with 1GB SDRAM. I installed Jack and opened JackPilot before opening ardour.
I also downloaded the newest version of X11 but I can't install it. During installation it reports that X11 is already on my computer.

What now? I think I have all the software to run ardour installed and I do everything by the book.
Any solutions?
thanks & greets

I noticed that some other users have the same problem. Some of them solved it by installing X11 from the Tiger Installation Disk. I just did that but Ardour still won't open...
No idea what to do now...

I had the same problem has you, here is the solution:
1 download X11 from apple website
2 download pacifist ( http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743 ) which is an installer which will force macosx to install x 11 even if it think it is all ready installed
3 open X11 pkg with pacifist
4 reboot (may be not needed )
5 start jackpilot
6 have fun !
tell me if you still having trouble...

First of all, thank you for your help.
Now I installed X11 with Pacifist. Then I open Jackpilot & Ardour.
X11 opens, ardour doesn't. The window that opens with X11 is named xterm and in it there's one line written: 'powerbook58-of-davaba:~ davaba$' ...
Still no Ardour

Thank you Neto,
I followed your directions and used my tiger disc to install x11 using pacifist.
Ardour now works here on my old G3 450mhz, so far I'm digging it! :o)

Where can I inquire about changing tempo, changing click volume, plug ins (the links to plug ins are dead links)
