Summary0001153: user interface queries (newbie curiosity)
DescriptionHi,

Please excuse the naivete.
I was wondering a few things actually that you could probably clear up right off the bat.

1) Does the "track" analogy reflect anything that is going on in anything besides the interface? That is, if the "tracks" were eliminated, could the software still process efficiently?

2) Is it possible to group regions? and once grouped, group those groups?

3) Is there a way to implement "skip time" (or something like it) in which, a region window, once placed, could stay where it was, but the soundfile it references could move back and forth inside that region window via some cursor movement (hand, feet, teeth) dragging it forward and backward?

That's the first set. If those aren't programming possiblities, then the rest are a moot point too.

Thanks much,

Rick

1) yes and no. i'm not sure where you're heading here. audio_track is part of libardour, so it is accurate to say it is not part of the gui, but it is displayed as a trackview which is solely part of the gui.
2) yes, no
3) yes. its already implemented. use alt while trimming regions.

these questions really belong on the users or developers' list, not in mantis imho.

Along with the user and developer mailing list, there is also now a forum on this website, so I am going to resolve and close this issue.
