I don't know if this a joke or not.

Ardour comes with no demo version. I am not sure what program it might be trying to invoke that would come with a demo version. JACK has no demo version, and no expiry date, and I don't think that Apple's X11 does either.

The message is simply not from ardour. Where did you get ardour from? How much do you know about OS X ?

(sorry for the slow response - very busy working on the next version)

no joke. i downloaded it from the ardour website. there's a chance that i had downloaded it before thru hitsquad or macmusic. if so, that's been thrown out.

just dug thru my trash. found some beta version of ardour there. got rid of every version of ardour, emptied the trash, and downloaded ardour again from the ardour site. still the same. as far as i can tell there are no traces of any older versions anywhere on my computer.

oh yeah. the box that says "this demo version has expired" comes up when i open ardour, and disappears when i close ardour. any chance that because i had a beta version, something's stopping the program from opening?

ardour is an open-source, GPL'ed program. we don't play games with our releases. things are called beta because they are not up to the standards we want them to be, not because they are cripple-ware test versions. every version of Ardour has the full capabilities of the program. no exceptions.

this message does *not* come from Ardour. I don't believe it comes from JACK. I suggest that you invoke ardour from a terminal/console window - you may get more clues as to where it is coming from.

I don't get this message with osx 10.4.3 it must come from another soft running...

see various comments in notes. this is not an ardour problem.

it would be nice to know where it comes from though.
