1) will fix, thanks.
2) there is a remove port button in current versions
3) rather poorly from a usability perspective, just clicking on an existing connection removes it. should probably be changed.

Edit: Update from last post:

2) I think what your are referring to is the Remove input button in the Track/Bus inspector. I'm quite sure there is no such button in the Connections window. (Just updated to latest CVS snapshot)

3) We were talking about two different things. Forget all the stuff about different mouse types. What I think you are talking about are the connections within the ports. You're right, these can be removed. What I was referring to was the connection presets themselves. For instance, if I wanted to get rid of the "Master Out" under the Output connections, there is no way to do that.

i assume you're talking about the per-track connection editor.
it sounds like you want to remove the input ports from (say) the master bus from within the connection editor of a different track/bus.
just a note that there are no presets listed. the list of available output ports is just that.. a list of what is currently available.
to change the number of input ports on the master, use the master bus's connection editor.
perhaps what you are proposing is a single ardour (jack)-wide connection editor?

Not true.

Let me give an example to illistrate my point.

In a session open the connections editor. Cick the "New Output" button to create a new output connection. We'll name it "Testing". You can then click the "Add Port" button to add ports to the connection. For this example, add two ports and then assign alsa_pcm:playback_1 to the first port and alsa_pcm:playback_2 to the second port. Now create a stereo bus. At the bottom of the buses mixer strip click the output button. "Testing" will be listed as the possible outputs. This is not another bus, or a Jack Port name, but just a preset to automatically route the buses output to playback 1 and 2.

Now, even if you go to the track/bus inspector and eliminat these connections, or even if you remove the bus, this has no effect on the "Testing" preset. It still exists.

There are two problems. First, if I want to reduce the number of ports within the "Testing" preset, there is no means to do this. There is an "Add Port" button but not a "Remove port" button. (The term "port" in this case is confusing. In the upper right frame it referes to the number of channels within the connection while in the lower right frame it referes to Jack ports)

The second problem is that if I want to do away with the "Testing" preset altogether there is no means of doing that either.

i have fixed 0000001 (more tricky than i thought, but not hard).

the rest will need to wait. the entire dialog is a total mess and needs a complete redesign in almost every way.

So was this resolved when the IO dialog was reworked?

Is this still an issue in newer versions of Ardour(2.8)? I am able to do all of the above, but am unsure of if what I am thinking of and the OP are different.
