| Summary | 0001048: Ardour causes X session to crash | ||||
| Description | Ardour randomly crashes X window system. It seems to be associated with mouse operation (if left alone, it won't crash). The specific mouse operation that causes the crash seems random. Examples are: un-clicking "record" button, opening a new window (such as big clock), dragging an audio clip, muting a track, adding a track, etc. I am using Gentoo Linux 2005.0 on a Pentium 4 machine, running a 2.6.12 kernel, alsa 1.0.8, jack 3.0.0, xorg 6.8.2, kde 3.4.1 My sound "card" is an EchoAudio Layla 20-bit. logs say: X session :0 exited unexpectedly. No other errors in logs. | ||||

probably h/w and/or driver related. i have similar problems on a P4 laptop with an RME HDSP PCMCIA card; using the mousepad is guaranteed to lockup X within 10 mins; using a USB mouse will ensure reliable operation for an indefinite period of time. |

Probably hardware caused. |
