| Summary | 0010414: Problems with FabFilter Pro-Q 3 and Pro-Q 4 in Ardour on macOS... | ||||
| Description | Hey, I keep getting these errors in the log window when trying to use the *Audio Unit* versions of FabFilter plugins like Pro-Q 3 and Pro-Q 4: 2026-06-23T15:45:45 [ERROR]: AUPlugin: Pro-Q 3 cannot initialize plugin (err = -10868) 2026-06-23T15:45:45 [ERROR]: AUPlugin: Pro-Q 4 cannot initialize plugin (err = -10868) 2026-06-23T15:45:45 [ERROR]: AU: render error for Pro-Q 3, bus 0 status = -10867 2026-06-23T15:45:45 [ERROR]: AU: render error for Pro-Q 4, bus 0 status = -10867 As a result, they refuse to 'turn on' (-the light indicator is always dark). Now, I would use the *other* plugin formats I have for each, i.e. the MacVST or VST3 versions, *however*, those suffer from their own, unique problems... In short, here are the conditions of each summarized: Audio Units (AU) versions: -Won't initialize. -But shows proper, multi-input editing capability. (-Able to EQ incoming channels 1+2 ("L/R"), and 3+4 ("Lsr/Rsr") separately.) MacVST and VST3 versions: -WILL initialize. -But does NOT show any, multi-input editing capability. (-Stuck with it thinking only stereo (1+2) is being provided.) ... So, is there any obvious thing that might fix this? The goal for me here is to get the plugins' multi-channel-input editing fully functional (-again, for EQ-ing channels 1+2 and 3+4 (etc.) separately within the same plugin). Thanks for reading! : ) -J | ||||

OH, and I forgot to mention something fairly crucial: The Audio Units versions of Pro-Q 3 and 4 DO initialize properly... --> but ONLY if they are receiving only 1 or 2 inputs/streams. -As soon as you add another audio port to the stereo track/bus, or try to put them on a track/bus with 3+ channels, then they auto-disable and remain disabled. -J |
