| Description | I mentioned this on forum a while ago https://discourse.ardour.org/t/desktop-environment-font-size-increases-button-size/110472 If user increases their Desktop Environments default font size, this causes Ardour to increase the size of its buttons shown in its `Application Bar`, but the text size itself does not increase. This just causes more space to be used by the `Application Bar`. In forum post linked above, this was said to be a possible bug that the text size does not increase. Even if this did work, then this would also mean that it should increase the Menu Bar font size as well, etc. I understand the thought of trying to make Ardour function like other applications in this way, but as it has been said Ardour is more of a unique application. For example, in one of my recent posts I asked about setting to adjust font size without the need to scale the GUI and it was said that it is not possible. So being that Ardour achieves font size/button size increases through a scaling method, to me it seems that this DE + Ardour connection should be removed. (GUI scaling increase + this issue = even bigger buttons) GTK Also if user wanted to override/prevent a specific application from being affected by a DE setting such as font size, they would be able to achieve this through GTK. Now that Ardour has "absorbed" GTK2 as its own toolkit, I do not think this method is available any longer to the user? So I am suggesting to remove this connection between DE and Ardour GUI or Provide some sort of way for user to prevent this from happening. Thank You | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | -Just to really get an idea of what is occurs, change your DEs default font size to something like 16-18 -Relaunch Ardour -Look at `Application Bar` buttons sizes | ||||
