| Summary | 0010104: MIDI Tracks - Vertical piano note name text increases when track height is increased | ||||
| Description | Since nightly versions of version 9 have been available, I have noticed many different similar issues that occur with MIDI track vertical piano note text, mainly with the zoom states of this text. I was told not to make any version 9 bug reports so I never mentioned them. Not sure which ones have been fixed or not. I would just keep an eye on this text because there are issues. I just started testing again and noticed one right away. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Open new session 2. Add a new MIDI track 3. Draw in a MIDI region 4. Default state is maximum zoom in available 5. Now drag the bottom of the track box down to increase its height 6. As the track height is increased pay attention to the note name text and the piano graphics black and white key heights. It appears that this is allowing for a greater vertical zoom in state then the default. If you draw MIDI notes in the piano roll, the note box heights are also large to match the black and white key heights. 7. If the track height is increased to the height the editor itself, showing 1 track at a time (not sure if physical monitor/screen height plays a role here), the note name text that include "#" sharp, the notes octave numbers to their right get cut off by the piano key graphic. 9. You will also see that the overlay color that represents scroll rectangle is smaller then usually (the size of this gets smaller the more zoomed in the view gets). 10. If you then LMB click on the overlay color scroll as if you were going to hold down LMB to adjust the scroll head up / down, you will notice that instantly a refresh occurs and the size of this color overlay scroll head automatically increases and the zoom state of the note text reverts more to typical font size. 11. After this refresh occurs, then if you play around with that tracks height, this issue does not occur again, seems to perform more as it did in previous version of Ardour. | ||||
| Additional Information | Kind of a shame that this is an issue causing this, because in a way I actually kind of liked how this allows for more vertical zoom in, making the note name text / key heights / MIDI notes larger then the current maximum default used. Might be nice in the future to add a setting that would allow user to choose the minimum and maximum zoom amounts used in piano roll graphics. | ||||
