Summary0010061: Ardour 9 seems to be using more CPU
DescriptionWith a project "idling" (not playing, not recording) in 8.12, the DSP is typically 11%. Repeating with the same project in 9, the DSP is 31%.
This is with my CPU in powersave mode.
If I change to performance mode, the figures become 4% and 11% typically.

I've put this as minor severity but I don't think it's for me to say really!

Do you use an optimized build of Ardour 9 to compare? (check menu > help > about)

(debug builds also introduce overhead in DSP)

I can't see anything about optimized but 9 is def. a debug build whereas 8.12 doesn't mention debug.
So presumably that's the explanation.

Why don't you test and compare with Standard non-debug Ardour 9.0 rc1....?
