Summary0009995: Allow drag and drop audio files into track empty space
DescriptionCurrently Ardour supports drag and drop of audio files into the empty space in timeline, which creates new tracks for these audio files at the bottom of current track list.
Sometimes when using this d&d approach it can be a little difficult to get the audio files (regions) to be inserted directly at 00:00 in the timeline, especially if snap is off at that time.

(For this reason and in general just feels like it should be possible)
Suggesting to allow audio files to be dragged and dropped into the blank space in the track column itself, below any existing tracks.

This would allow new tracks to be created for each audio file dragged in and each of the regions created in the timeline would all start at 00:00.

Thank You
Additional InformationA couple questions to consider if this gets added....
-Should this also work in the blank space of the Mixer?
-There is a new instruction graphic that has been added to blank spaces which instructs how tracks can be added. Should this new approach also be mentioned in this instruction?

Right-click / Double-click / Drag items
here to add Track, Bus, or VCA

Would come up with something that looks nice / is legible when centered in the narrow track columns width.
