| Description | I have not tested "Region Highlight Bars" out completely, but I have noticed some issues in their current state. This is a related post to the one I mention here https://tracker.ardour.org/view.php?id=9980 I was told that this feature may not be updated at all, so I just in case it is not, I decided to put this all in one list as oppose to a bunch of single issue posts. LABEL BAR ISSUES - FUNCTIONALITY -When mouse cursor is in these label bars it activates the ability to adjust the the width of the region. I would remove this feature because I think it can be dangerous. For example if using the "Grab" tool user might be using to move regions around, they can very easily move mouse cursor into the label bar (especially if track heights are narrow) and end of adjusting the begin/end of a region without being aware. This can also get confusing when trying to adjust the fade grips (squares) at bottom corners of region, mouse cursor graphic constantly changing rapidly. Even worse if there are regions above and below the current region trying to adjust. ***Hard to say right now because labels being on bottom are confusing me, but I would probably replace the "length adjust" action with just the ability to drag-move regions by the header bars or maybe just have no mouse action in them so will eliminate any conflicts with the fade grip adjustments at the ends of regions? -If label bars are at the top, would have to take in account the fade grip adjusters, which is probably why label bars were at bottom. Grips would/should still function the same though even if header is at the top. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LABEL BAR ISSUES - GRAPHICAL -As mentioned confusing when they are on the bottom -If you have a region that does not have another region before or after it. Zoom into beginning (left side) of bar and there is actually no vertical line shown just the color label bar. Zoom into end (right side) of bar and the color label does not go all the way to the end of the region. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LABEL BAR ISSUES - GRAPHICAL (GROUP OF ISSUES) (The following items all kind of go together because they all combine visually) -The vertical lines when two regions are against each other are too thick. -If you make a slice (S key) in a region, a thin vertical line (region edge) is shown, this vertical line is not in the same location as the "too thick" line I mentioned above. The label bar vertical "thick" line shows up to the left of the vertical slice line in the waveform part of the region. Should be all one thin line that aligns vertically. -Region fade grips If user adjusts both the beginning and end fades at the top corners of region, then two more grips show up in the bottom corners. This I believe works correctly but when combined visually with the other two items mentioned above, everything just looks unaligned. Because little fades are automatically applied the grips are not exactly in each of the 4 corners so they look crooked. Best seen if you have a track with about 3/4" height on screen and a region with about 3/4" width, basically the region is a square. Select this square region and then CTRL+D duplicate a few times. Click on a region in the middle of these duplicates. The label bar thick vertical line + slice thin vertical line (that is not aligned) + the 4 fade grips not being exactly in all 4 corners, all combined visually can look a little strange.
