Summary | 0009946: Grey out muted tracks
Description | I could use a feature where muted tracks are "greyed out" to have a direct visual feedback of what is actively playing something and what not. The "greying out" could follow the color of the mute button. It could also apply to soloed tracks.

You should clarify in text if you only refer to the visual feedback in timeline (Edit window), not at the track (fader in Mix) itself. If so (like your graphics show, thanks) , not a bad idea. At least to think about. But this could possibly collide/confuse with folders, groups and other common timeline based visual feedbacks on the horizontal track lanes, commonly visual in DAWs. And which may occur in Ardour now or then (not sure if already there yet). I would (if) suggest to put it rather as an optional color shift setting to the color settings, so that users can make it appear or not if wanted. As you mentioned "Solo" also, the color setting group could be called something like "track status visualization in Edit WIndow timeline" or similar then. |
