Description | Ardour crashes on startup and produces this output: $ rm -rf /home/cyrus/gxloops/* && /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/bin/ardour8 /home/cyrus/Desktop/thingamagig-sessions/r.e.m.-whats_the_frequency_kenneth/r.e.m.-whats_the_frequency_kenneth.ardour Ardour8.6.0 (built using 8.6 and GCC version 6.3.0 20170516) Ardour: [INFO]: Your system is configured to limit Ardour to 1048576 open files Ardour: [INFO]: Loading system configuration file /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/etc/system_config Ardour: [INFO]: Loading user configuration file /home/cyrus/.config/ardour8/config Ardour: [INFO]: CPU vendor: AuthenticAMD Ardour: [INFO]: AVX capable processor Ardour: [INFO]: AVX with FMA capable processor Ardour: [INFO]: AVX512F capable processor Ardour: [INFO]: CPU brand: AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U w/ Radeon 780M Graphics Ardour: [INFO]: Using AVX and FMA optimized routines Ardour: [INFO]: Loading plugin meta data file /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/share/plugin_metadata/plugin_tags Ardour: [INFO]: Loading plugin statistics file /home/cyrus/.config/ardour8/plugin_metadata/plugin_stats Ardour: [INFO]: add_lrdf_data '/home/cyrus/.config/ardour8/rdf:/opt/Ardour-8.6.0/share/rdf:/usr/local/share/ladspa/rdf:/usr/share/ladspa/rdf' Cannot xinstall SIGPIPE error handler Ardour: [INFO]: Loading default ui configuration file /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/etc/default_ui_config Ardour: [INFO]: Loading user ui configuration file /home/cyrus/.config/ardour8/ui_config Ardour: [INFO]: Loading 459 MIDI patches from /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/share/patchfiles Gtk-Message: 18:02:07.978: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module" Ardour: [INFO]: Loading color file /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/share/themes/dark-ardour.colors Ardour: [INFO]: Loading ui configuration file /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/etc/clearlooks.rc start clocking Ardour: [INFO]: Loading bindings from /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/etc/ardour.keys Loading ui configuration file /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/etc/clearlooks.rc The program 'ardour-8.6.0' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'. (Details: serial 1103 error_code 3 request_code 38 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Steps To Reproduce | Not immediately reproducible. Ardour opened fine on next attempt.
Additional Information | This was a session I used internal ALSA for previously, but this time opened it while jackd was running. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Are you using XWayland (or Xorg)? Can you start Ardour with the "-d" option (safe more, disable plugins)? /opt/Ardour-8.6.0/bin/ardour8 -d /home/cyrus/Desktop/thingamagig-sessions/r.e.m.-whats_the_frequency_kenneth/r.e.m.-whats_the_frequency_kenneth.ardour If that still crashes, could you get a backtrace? https://ardour.org/debugging_ardour |

I can start it even without -d. It worked on the next attempt. I couldn't reproduce the crash. Xorg |
