Summary0009445: First note is skipped while feeding midi data to VSTi on audio track
DescriptionI noticed strange behaviour (bug?) when having following setup:

IDEA:
Midi track feeding midi data into VSTi on another audio track

SETUP:
1. Midi track sends midi data (recorded midi region) to VSTi on track 2
2. Audio track receives midi data for VSTi

THE ISSUE:
First midi note on the grid will be skipped if varispeed value is not +12 -12 or 0 in semitones
- shown in 2nd video

- I’ve tried turning on and off the lookahead - no improvement

Please take a look at videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUkxCfTCXVk (Renoise Redux)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcgkR28v57g (Modartt Pianoteq)

Let me know if i can help further. Thanks
Steps To ReproduceSETUP:

1. create Midi track which will send recorded midi data to VSTi on track 2 (midi region should have midi note at the very beginning of midi region)
2. create Audio track, add VSTi which will receive midi data from recorded midi region on track 1
3. Play content and try changing varispeed value in semitones and cents
4. First midi note on the grid will be skipped if varispeed value is not +12 -12 or 0 in semitones

Please try this in a nightly build of Ardour. I fixed two buglets that sound related to this.

forgot to mention that importing same project in Ardour7.5 works without issues (does not provoke a crash)

Sadly those crash reports contain nothing of any value at all.

BTW: Session > Archive inside of ardour produces a slightly-easier-to-use session archive.

I can load that session into current Ardour without issues on Linux, but I'm also missing many plugins used by the session.

I would recommend checking it in "safe" mode - there's a checkbox at the bottom of the session selection dialog

Here is the 'archive' version

session uses only pianoteq (the missing plugins thing is probabbly everything tied to internal Mixbus32c DSP)

It loads just fine here on with Ardour 8.0-rc1 (Linux and macOS) and with Mixbus 9.1.x

I do have missing plugins though.

it seems that the method of how you open the project causes crash:

the following works:
1. open ardour8(nightly)
2. open project - select
3. works

the following does not
1. right click on .ardour project - open with ardour8
2. crash
