Summary0009359: Stopping recording MIDI makes Ardour hang (current git)
DescriptionIn a build from current git (7.4-207-g3468ffddbb), recording from a MIDI keyboard into a MIDI track (with ReasonableSynth) makes Ardour "forget" the recently recorded region, then hang, first partly (e.g. playhead can’t be moved) then fully (UI becomes fully unresponsive, then GNOME asks whether to wait or force quit Ardour).
Steps To ReproduceWith Auto-Return enabled and a MIDI keyboard connected and hooked up to a MIDI track (using ReasonableSynth),

- Start recording (e.g. Shift-Space, or MMC Record Pause + MMC Play, or MMC Record Strobe)
- Play some notes
- Stop recording (e.g. Space, or MMC Stop)

At this point, the playhead stays where it is, the just recorded MIDI region vanishes and parts of the UI become unresponsive (e.g. the playhead can’t be moved, or any transport control buttons (play, record enable, stop). After a while, the whole UI becomes unresponsive.
Additional InformationThis works in Ardour 7.4.0 (sans the MMC commands, see 0009358), either the Fedora RPM package or the binary version from ardour.org: the playhead returns to the beginning of the recorded region, the region doesn’t vanish and Ardour stays operational.
