|Fixed in Version|
|Summary||0008508: Crash when starting a new recording with Shift+Space immediately after discarding the ongoing one with Ctrl+Space|
|Description||I am recording a piece, then want to discard it and instantly start over, so I press Ctrl+Space and then immediately Shift+Space.|
As a result Ardour crashes.
This happens ca. 1 out of 20 times on Ardour 6 but used to happen much more frequently with Ardour 5 both on Linux and Windows.
Also this is getting worse the more takes I record. Presumably this has to do with the growing amount of temporary files the more takes I have made, because also the returning of the cursor to the initial point takes longer after Ctrl+Space. After cleaning up the unused session files the returning after Ctrl+Space is happening fast again and the crashes occur less frequently.
Debug log is attached.
|Steps To Reproduce||Open empty session|
Add 1 audio track
Arm the track
Hit Shift+Space (Record)
Hit Ctrl+Space (to stop recording, discard the record and return to the initial position)
Immediately after that press Shift+Space to start a new recording without waiting for the position marker to return to the initial position.
Repeat 20 to 30 times (presumably the amount of temporary files in the session has to grow large enough)
Observe the crash
