|Summary||0008197: Ardour transmits midi on ALL 8 midi outs|
|Description||On initial start Ardour transmits midi on all 8 of the AMT 8 midi outs when I select amt out 1 . When I select two or more outputs then select AMT out 1 it behaves as expected|
|Steps To Reproduce||Happens on almost every start up , workaround of selecting then de selecting out puts works fine|
|Additional Information||This is a fresh install of Ubuntu Studio 20.04 and a fresh download of Ardour 6|
|Tags||Emagic AMT 8|
This is either a feature of the AMT itself, how you have the AMT configured, or how you connected things.
Ardour delivers MIDI to a "port", which in general corresponds (1) for audio, to a single mono channel (2) for MIDI, to a hardware MIDI port.
I regret that this "When I select two or more outputs then select AMT out 1 it behaves as expected" suggests that this behavior comes from the AMT itself.

Thanks Paul . The Emagic AMT 8 needs setting up in this screen here before it works as I expected . Saved as start up song
Window- Midi Connections
Warmest regards as always
||Needs setting up how?|
Sorry, just click on channel 1 to channel 1 channel 2 to channel 2 and so on . After a save it seems to work fine . I seem to remember with windows there was a separate utility to do this so Ardour is better in that respect.
Hope this helps. Probably needs marking as resolved .
