|Summary||0007582: Measure bars starting from 0|
|Description||AT the moment Ardour starts its bar counts at 1. The means that for straight song writing, sections start on multiples of 4/8/16 plus one. e.g. 1, 9, 17, 33, 37, 53. These take some mental effort to figure out in your head.|
If bar counts started at zero, it would be much quicker to figure out the starting point of a new section, as it would just be a straight multiple of 4/8/16 (or 12, or what ever your section length is), without the plus one. So the above points would be 0, 8, 16, 32, 36, 52 - much easier to work out in your head.
I know that this pattern is prevalent in DAW software, and that's a good reason to keep the option to use 1-indexing, but I think this would be a pretty useful improvement, and probably something that most other DAWs would eventually adopt.
