Summary0006953: Remove 'R' channel of track is not possible now
DescriptionArdour does not allow to remove the 'R' output channel of the mono track now.
Also now it is not possible to create 1 input - 1 output track/bus in Ardour.
It was a very good feature when I wanted to combine two mono tracks into stereo tracks without panning. Now I always have to use panning OR use only one output of the mono track with disabled panning. The second output stays never used but probably takes some amount of resources (memory and CPU).

By default new tracks in Ardour5 are created with "strict i/o".

This means: The last plugin in the chain defines the number of output ports.

e.g. add a "1 in, 2 out" plugin. The track becomes stereo, remove the plugin and the excess ports are automatically removed.

There are 2 ways around this:
 - disable "strict i/o" - either at track creating time or later: in the context menu of the mixer-strip
 - configure pins for the [last] plugin

Yes, it works. Thanks for information.

I think it should be a good way to add this option to the configuration editor. Because when restarting Ardour this option is reset to 'Strict I/O'.
Also I think it would be nice to enable/disable automatic saving of the last state of the 'Add Track/Bus/VCA' dialog in Ardour's configuration. Because, for example, I would better prefer 'Flexible I/O' and 'After selection' position.

Also I noticed that I can not close 'Add Track/Bus/VCA' dialog with standard 'X' button or by pressing 'Esc' on the keyboard.

Escape does not close windows in Ardour. It is used to cancel selections and drags.

Ctrl-w/Cmd-w is used to close whatever Ardour thinks is the current dialog. This is hard-coded and cannot be changed at present.

I have fixed the bug with the Add route dialog, and it will in the next nightly build.
