Summary | 0006289: MIDI-learn controls loosing sync with harwdare if moving too fast
Description | I assigned a control to MIDI CC by MIDI learn (Ctrl+MMB). If I move my MIDI controller's knob rapidly, the control in Ardour stops and won't move until I sweep my harwdare control in a slower pace (knob/fader) and pick the previous "stuck" value. Then the software control starts moving again, unfreezes. This is a big problem for live performance and automation recording.

This is expected behavior to accomodate motorized faders. You can either disable feedback or configure the threshold "Smoothing Parameter" (double click on the Generic Midi control surface) |
|
In Ardour 4.2 the interface had changed. The default value for Controller smoothing was 10. Setting it to 1 (minimum) makes all my input ignored. Setting it to 127 (maximum) fixes the issue for me. I don't understand how this is supposed to smooth the input as it badly distorts it. I think it's broken. |
