Summary | 0005982: Ardour 3.5.403 and previous: Accidental very fast doubleclicks on regions bringing up properties dialogue lead to crash
Description | Ardour 3.5.357 and 3.5.403 both produce this issue: 1. Doubleclick REALLY FAST on a region. I do this only by accident; I haven't really been able to do it fast enough on purpose. (Hence the randomness of reproducibility. When I get the accidental super-fast doubleclick, repro is 100%.) 2. Unwanted properties dialogue appears. 3. Close dialogue. You are now in a state where _any_ region operation will crash Ardour. To avoid crashing, deselect all regions by clicking in a non-region area, save immediately (possibly optional but I always do it), then select a DIFFERENT region. Crash flag is now cleared and you may proceed as normal. Failing to deselect all regions _or_ reselecting the first region again without having first selected another region _will_ crash Ardour, without fail. This happens about twice a month and just happened again under 3.5.403. I've got the prevent-crashing routine pretty well down to a reflex, but it just happened and my reflexive save didn't work, so I'm worried that maybe the crash-avoidance trick stopped working. (Either that or I just did it wrong.) This is difficult to trigger so probably won't get fixed, I know. But if my workaround for my slightly debouncy trackball stops working that would definitely make it rank higher. (It's a special trackball for RSI, not made anymore, I can't switch to a standard mouse or I would've already.)
Additional Information | Distro: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS, apt-get update/apt-get upgrade run within the last week, with calf-plugins left behind intentionally until I can finish this soundtrack album. Gnome 2 fallback due to multimonitor and xinerama. PS/2-connected trackball with standard mouse drivers.
