Summary | 0005980: MIDI Editor in another window
Description | From what I know, MIDI can only be edited "in-line" within the main view. It would be great to be able to edit one midi sequence in a popup window (which could maybe also be fullscreen as default), with all specific MIDI-editing tools in the menu bar. It would be a great improvement for Ardours ergonomics, because the other tracks and useless buttons wouldn't disturb by their presence.

Not likely to happen any time soon. One person's "great improvement for Ardours ergonomics" is another's "window hell". The recent nearly universal trend of software moving away from window hell is pretty indicative of the problem with that approach, IMO. That effort would be better spent making the editor more suited to MIDI-centric editing tasks than breaking it out into a separate window (which would pretty much be just another editor window anyway, since the MIDI editing stuff is inherently timeline canvas based). |
