Summary | 0005775: no way to trigger dropdown menus via keyboard
Description | Maybe I'm missing something, but the globally recognised convention (on Linux and Windows at least) that dropdown menus can be accessed via the Alt key (either by tapping, or by chording with the first letter of the menu in question) is not honoured by Ardour. This is quite a usability issue for those of us who find the keyboard generally faster than the mouse, but presumably it's pretty easy to fix too.

Summary of an IRC conversation with rgareus just now: automatically binding Alt+letter to menu activation may be contentious, however pressing and releasing Alt alone will not interfere with any other binding, so hopefully you agree this is an easy win. I appreciate that Alt+letter combinations may be used elsewhere, but where possible adhering to global conventions greatly reduces the learning curve for newbies. |

F10 drops down session menu. you can then arrow to another menu from there. granted, not as speedy as alt-... |

Good to know, thanks. But yes, press/release Alt followed by press/release of a letter would be more convenient. |
