| Description | `Edit-Sidebar` Two overlapping issues 1.) I noticed that when sidebar has keyboard based focus/navigation, anything linked to the renaming of items within this section, takes the focus out of the sidebar and puts it into the Editor. 2.) On top of that, when this occurs, keyboard focus also is then no longer allowed back into the sidebar for the remainder of that session. User has to restart Ardour to fix this issue. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1ST ISSUE -Open a session with multiple tracks -Show Edit screen -Show Sidebar-Tracks on right side of screen -LMB click onto one of the track names in the Sidebar-Tracks section to apply keyboard based focus in sidebar (be sure to keep your mouse cursor within the sidebar or it will lose this focus) -Now verify you have keyboard focus by using UP/DOWN ARROW keys -Now press your SPACE BAR or ENTER key to activate inline rename mode of that item -While in rename mode, you will notice if do any of the following actions ESCAPE key to cancel Type new name and hit ENTER to apply Type new name and hit UP or DOWN ARROW to apply -After doing this, the expected behavior is that the sidebar should still have focus and that you could go back to using your UP/DOWN ARROW keys to navigate, but this is not currently true. -After doing anything mentioned related to this rename mode, focus instead is put into the Editor pane (even though mouse cursor remains in sidebar) 2ND ISSUE After the above issue occurs, then a 2nd issue arises. -If you try to LMB click back into the sidebar to re-apply keyboard focus, that sidebar section no longer allows keyboard based focus for the remainder of that session, have to restart Ardour. | ||||
| Additional Information | SUGGESTING TO FIX BOTH OF THESE ISSUES 1.) Rename action should not prevent focus from ever being able to be applied back into the sidebar. 2.) When any of the rename actions I mentioned above are attempted, focus should remain in the sidebar, continuing to allow for keyboard based focus/navigation, should not move focus into the Editor pane. OTHER OBSERVATIONS -This issue occurs in most sidebar sections (Tracks, Sources, Regions, etc.). -It happens per sidebar section, meaning that it only occurs in the section that the ESCAPE key has been pressed in. The other sections will work fine, until you press ESCAPE key in them. Hopefully the effort put into this helps in some way | ||||
