| Summary | 0010282: recording midi-notes from other tracks in a new midi-track randomly is not in timesync, nightly build 542 and 434 | ||||
| Description | As the summary says it is randomly, but reproducible if i do it a few times in a row. I tried several things to make it reliably occur, but found no setting to do that ( the recording midi-track set to mute or not, syncopated 16th notes in the recorded track or not, so forth). In 9.2 it didn't happen yet, but i focused on testing it in nightly builds. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | as shown in the video, create a couple of midi-tracks with BlondeBobs drumkit, make it slightly complex like with 16th notes and a bit of syncopation, set up another track and route all the drum tracks to it to record them | ||||
| Additional Information | As said, it seems randomly. | ||||

Sorry, i really got hard times to show the video, which shows the problem well, here. I temporarily uploaded it to youtube to workaround. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQYF74lQiS4 |

After making quite some more tests to figure out if i find a pattern: It seems (in ardour 8.12:) "auto return" (or in ardour 9.12:) "return to last playback start when stopped" enabled makes it happen much more reliably, but sure not all the time. Also: It happens in Ardour version 9.12 and version 8.12 too. |

There is a big "no align" blinking red light in the video, and the latency reports "ambiguos" (top of the screen). This could well be the cause of the not-in-sync situation you are getting. Check if you find in the log window references to which tracks exactly have ambiguous latencies. If you can't find anything, open the routing window and try disconnecting things until the "no align" alarm disappears. Also search the forum, because this thema is often mentioned. |
