Summary0010241: Import iPhone mp4 recording by drag & drop does not import the audio to the end
DescriptionI received an iPhone mp4 recording I wanted to import to Ardour as an audio track.
The simplest solution was to drag the mp4 file to the Ardour Edit view.

Works fine ... almost ... about 5 seconds at the end of the recording are not imported.
Steps To ReproduceDrag and drop a mp4 file into Ardour Edit view.

As I had similar effects with importing ogg or mp3 IMHO this effect should be easily reproducable.

Sadly YHO isn't relevant. I regularly import mp3 and ogg files just fine.

Could you provide an example file that fails? Thanks in advance.

Dear x42,

thank you for your reply - looks like I should have thought a little deeper :-( .

I cannot easily share the file without checking and asking for permission - haven't received it yet.
But 2 further experiments showed that should have taken more pre-analysis before raising this.
* I produced a recording as example to create a file that I could upload --> no issues with this one.
* I installed Ardour freshly on a different (Windows, sorry ...) machine to avoid issues with audio configuration. --> same negative and positive behavior here
Increases the probability that it's is something with the import file. (and makes me worry as I seem to have so many of them - and that "playable with VLC" was not a
good criterion ..)

Is my assumption correct, that the core of the import is a matter of ffmpeg processing the file, like what is shown in the log ?
If yes then it's for sure not related with Ardour9 let's close the issue here.
I'd rather open a thread in the discussions to get community support.
