| Description | Hi, When we have multiple soundcards (via pipewire), this selection of the input in the top menu of the track is inconsistent : Say, we have one 2 channels and one 24 channels soundcard. Click on the "input" menu of the track will show [In 1 ... In 26]. For the 1st of the 24 channels soundcard, we need to click on "In 3". When selected, the input will show "1". Maybe we can show, in the menu : "Short soundcard name, In N" ? | ||||

For such cases, the user ought to use the JACK metadata tools to attach pretty-names to the ports, so that they show up with meaningful names in any tool that is using multiple hardware devices as a single device. Remember: we interact via the JACK API, in which all ports of the hardware device(s) being used by JACK are "system:XXXXXX". The idea that "system" can be decomposed into "soundcard 1" and "soundcard 2" is not part of the JACK worldview. |
