Summary0010064: Consider ‘dynamically’ adjusting the display of the waveform for a region according to its *envelope*...
DescriptionConsider ‘dynamically’ adjusting the display of the waveform for a region according to its *envelope*.
You already do this ‘statically’ when you adjust Region Gain. So I think the logic for implementing this is sound, as Region Gain and Region Envelope are closely related.

An example where this would come in handy:
You have a snare drum track where certain hits are just too quiet, and you want to manually adjust them. Without even listening to it (-let alone repeatedly-), you could just drag a portion of envelope up until the waveform of the quieter hit visually matches the surrounding hits. ~Done!

Now yes, you can effectively do this currently by splitting the region up into parts, and then increasing the Region Gain for the quieter hit, or dialog segment, etc… But, sometimes this leads to relatively-sudden increases/decreases in amplitude without adequate (and tedious) cross-fading between the newly-created regions.

~Probably not “trivial”, as you’re always so eager to point out. : P
~But it would be nice! : )

-NOT a priority of course.
~Just an idea to seed into the Ardour Aether... (!)

Relationships

related to 0001430 acknowledged Would be good if region waveforms under fades and crossfades reflected that fade.
