| Summary | 0010060: The mixer and editor windows can't be made smaller than the size they are initially presented at. | ||||
| Description | I just tried rc9. When launched it found my 8.12 config files and I took the option to copy settings from there. I then loaded a previous project. The mixer window in particular is quite large and whilst I can make it bigger by dragging the left and right sides, I can't reduce the width beyond the size initially displayed. Same for the editor window. I am not a very experienced Ardour user so apologies if I'm missing something obvious. The Terminal window below mentions "WEAK JACK" - don't think that ever appeared with 8.12. Also there are various messages about not able to connect MIDI. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | as above | ||||

Those additional messages are because you run a debug build, and the output looks normal. As for the actual issue. Can you never shrink it at all, or do you perhaps just reach the min. required width? Ardour 9 requires a larger screen than 8.12. The min. width is defined by the editor toolbar and application bar. You can try to hide some elements in the latter (Preferences > Appearance > Application bar). |

Thanks for the quick response Robin. Yes, I reach the min required width. I've always worked with a detached mixer window. In 8.12 my mixer menu bar has none of the tools, clocks etc, there is just mixer strips, so I can make it use just a quarter, say, of my monitor, with the editor using the rest. In 9, all the menubar items have been duplicated, and removing something removes it from both windows, which of course is not good. Is the preference copying routine when first using 9 not quite subtle enough perhaps? |
