| Summary | 0010036: Optional track name location in mixer view | ||||
| Description | I recently switched to Linux from 30 years of Windows audio recording in various DAWs. Overall I have been very happy with Ardour, but when mixing I can't get past the track labels being at the top of the mixer view. Could we please have a configurable option to place the labels at the bottom if desired? I know not everyone has the same workflow, but I would argue the labels should be near the faders because the faders will be adjusted more than anything else in a mix. This is true whether working in a DAW or on a PHYSICAL mixing console. Once input/output routing is set, it's done. Sends, especially post-fader, don't need to be tweaked too much. And, if you change inline FX, it's likely going to require a subsequent tweak to the faders to compensate for the change to the signal chain. An additional consideration unique in the context of a DAW... The horizontal scroll bar is also at the bottom, so I find it extremely jarring when I need to look at the bottom of the screen for the scroll bar, look at the bottom of the screen for my faders, but -- OOPS -- I have no idea where I am on the console because all my labels are at the top. The work-around in current SW is to use the "Comments" widgets to create an extra label, but the double-entry on a 60-track mix is a really irritating waste of time. Thank you for your consideration. | ||||
