| Summary | 0010013: When using PulseAudio, need to stop/restart the audio engine to get sound | ||||
| Description | Sometimes i use PulseAudio with a large buffer to avoid xruns on my low-latency JACK server, with PulseAudio itself running as a JACK client. When Ardour attempts to connect to a PulseAudio server, it says the server is not started, and i need open the audio/midi setup window, then press "Stop" then "Start". | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | - Configure Ardour to use PulseAudio - Close/quit Ardour - Make sure a PulseAudio server is available for your user (either running directly ALSA or as a JACK client) - Start Ardour, notice the audio/midi setup window appears automatically, and says PulseAudio is disabled - Start or load a session - No sound To temporarily "fix" the problem: - Double-click on the audio details (sample rate, buffer size etc) in the top right of Ardour's main window - In the audio/midi setup window, make sure PulseAudio is still selected as sound backend. - Click "stop" then click the button again when it displays "start". | ||||
