| Description | When you bypass some plugins they continue to use DSP even though not being used. The LSP plugins are an example of this. Some programs are designed in a way that they do not use DSP when bypassed. I believe the ZAM plugins are an examples of this. Some of his reverbs and distortion plugins generate high DSP values but when bypassed they go down to 0% It is said that sometimes the plugin format can also be a factor (LV2, VST3) Although the two examples mentioned above both have LV2 and VST3 versions and perform the same with each. Requesting what I have seen referred to as a "hard bypass" which in essence truely turns off all plugins when bypassed so they do not use any DSP. This would be helpful for many obvious reasons. Sometimes user may want a plugin to be available in a session if needed for example in a template, but if that plugin is not being used currently it still might be using DSP. Same thing if user has an instrument plugin that uses high DSP and they convert that MIDI track to audio to save DSP, but user does not want to remove that MIDI track, that instrument plugin could still end up using DSP when bypassed.
