Summary0007294: Making the "Bender" automation easier on the user
DescriptionI found it's pretty difficult to manipulate the "Bender" (pitch bend) automation for MIDI regions.

Two reasons:

1. The arbitrary range of 0 .. 16384 with 8129 in the middle is difficult to understand for a regular user. I guess it'd be much easier if the Bender values ranged from -1 to +1, with 0 in the middle.

2. It's very hard to get back to the middle (rest position) - some form of snapping to 8192 (or 0 if we change the scale) would be great. Also a visible horizontal line in the middle would make it much easier to hit the spot, even without snapping.

What do you think?
Additional InformationAnother step forward could be a way to set the range of the pitchbend and interpret the values as octaves, semitones and cents, optionally even drawing a nice grid to help hitting the clean notes, octaves etc.

I don't know if there's a way to send or get this data from/to softsynths - for example ZynAddSubFX allows the user to change the Bender range, it'd be cool if the plugins could communicate about that with the DAW so the user doesn't have to set the same thing twice. But that's probably a topic for LV2 development.

Editing Bender automation is still a horrible experience in Ardour 6.3.
