Summary | 0006222: Drag/Drop and mouse can become out of sync
Description | It is possible to desync mouse-pointer and drag-locations why moving the mouse outside the canvas. (3.5-4882-g57e227f removed an assert() for this, sadly the issue is not as simple as the calculation outlined there)
Additional Information | I grabbed some regions from tracks 7 or 8 (or thereabouts) and move the mouse up as fast as I could. The regions move with the mouse but just behind it (during movement). The moment the mouse leaves the top of the canvas (ie into the rulers) the movement of the regions stops, wherever they have got to. In this case it was not the very top track. If I do the same rapid movement around the canvas, then stop, the regions are always exactly where the mouse stops. It's the action of the mouse leaving the canvas, that is the issue. If you are moving the mouse at more normal speeds it seems quite unlikely to happen.
