| Description | In 4 channels track or bus one cane move the panning point only in the outer circle. In results that in controls only the balance between two neigbouring channels (1-2, 2-3, 3-4), so it works now basically just as a stereo panner. It is impossible now to move to the inside of the circule to control yhe balance between all 4 channels. I assume that the central point should mean "all equal". Otherwise: the panner looks great! | ||||

this could be handled by VBAP spread in the future. moving the panner inside means elevation in the current implementation. in any case, the meaning of "move to the center" is not at all clear. it certainly does not mean "create a virtual source inside the speaker ring". |

Thanks for having alook! I now realize that the panner for multicahnnel tracks works as a VBAP azimuth for the sound source, and it does not enable yet to change balance between the channels (for example if I want to make first sepaekers a bit louder and rear ones softer) or is it possible? |

no, not yet. but a full vbap implementation would allow this via the "spread" parameter. so don't hold your breath for a specialized quad panner, it's going to be handled by the VBAP one, for arbitrary numbers of speakers. i suggest you keep watching issue 0005823, and we close this ticket, to keep things tidy. |
