Summary0000345: Option to open a track in an external audio editor?
DescriptionI really love Ardour, but I think it would be great if there was an option to edit a track in an external audio editor such as Audacity or Sweep or (insert your favorite editor here). I think such a feature is important because some people have systems that can't handle a huge amount of effects applied at once, but if they applied the effects permanently to the track, they'd still be able to use Ardour on their less powerful system. Plus, there are a few things I like to do with tracks that I would rather actually edit the audio with, rather than just apply it as an effect plugin.

I fully agree!!!
And it would be also very usefull to
view a single region without changing zoom for the whole session and loop easily.

we may well do this, but not till after v1.0.

to deal with the effects issue, just bounce the track to disk using the "Freeze" track context menu option. this will disable all plugins and replace the playlist with a single region in which all effects have been applied.
