Summary | 0003085: Unify region gain/amplitude terminology
Description | In Ardour 2.8.6, the volume of a region can be set either through the "Boost region gain" and "Cut region gain" menu entries, or through the Region editor's "Scale amplitude" box. I propose to unify the terminology and use either "region gain" or "region amplitude" consistently, since they operate on the same value. Since this value seems to be given in dB as opposed to linear gain (in the region editor), I would suggest the latter.

I have fixed this in 3.0 SVN. I went for "region gain". Thanks for the report! |

Thanks for taking care of this. On a philosophical level, I am distinguishing linear "gain" from logarithmic "amplitude", which is why I proposed to use "amplitude" in this case. But I guess that's a matter of personal taste. |
