| Summary | 0001353: Playhead does not locate until audio buffers are filled from a previous locate. | ||||
| Description | Locate the playhead (clicking on a ruler, dragging the playhead etc). Audio buffers are filled from this new position. Now if the playhead is located again before the buffers are full the playhead will not move until the buffers are filled. This obviously becomes more of an issue the more tracks you have with audio on them at the same position. For large projects it becomes intrusive. The issue is demonstrated quite well when using the keyboard to locate to the next marker. Moving to the next marker doesn't happen until the buffers are full. If you need to move along by, say, 5 markers it can take some time. Could the buffer filling be stopped if the playhead is re-located ? | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | I had a project with 40 tracks all with audio between the same start and end points, so locating the playhead was filling the buffers from all 40 tracks. | ||||

Didn't a fix for this go into SVN? |

Since the commit (SVN 1214) of a fix for this, it's all much more responsive. Problem solved I think. I did spot one thing though that may be related, not sure. If you click and hold the mouse button down in a ruler, there is more than a noticeable delay before the playhead actually jumps to this new position. Also, if you click and release the mouse button in a ruler the playhead jumps to the new position much more quickly but there is still a delay. The delay seems to be related to the size of the session, the more tracks and regions the longer the delay. If this is not related to this initial report I'll file a new bug. Let me know. |
